Web Developer Foundations: Using XHTML
Second Edition by Terry Felke-Morris

Chapter 3 - XHTML Hyperlinks
and XHTML Tables

This chapter continues your study of XHTML. It introduces using hyperlinks and tables on web pages. Hyperlinks are what makes the Web a "web".

You will learn to create hyperlinks that link to other web sites, to pages on your own site, and even within a single web page document.

Tables are often used to organize groups of information on web pages. They can also be used to provide a structure and format for an entire web. This chapter introduces these formatting techniques.

Chapter Updates

  • Page 23 -- In the third paragraph, the sentence, "This is conforms to XML syntax." should be "This conforms to XML syntax."

  • Page 66 -- In order to pass W3C validation, do not code the anchor tags in front of the <dt> tags. For example,
    <dt><a id="hobbies" name="hobbies">Hobbies</a></dt>
Thank you to Tim Arnold, Harper College WEB 150 student for this update!
